Celebrating the 10th anniversary of its release, VOID makes us rethink the digital watch with the second run of the iconic PXR-5 from acclaimed British designer Michael Young. With 20 years in industrial design, Young’s iconic output ranges from large-scale furniture to small portable accessories; the Hong-Kong based creative even tried his hand at all-terrain vehicles back in 2013. The PXR-5 timepiece is one of his most recognisable products to date. Designed purely for himself, the maker took on the challenge with enthusiasm: “Watch design has always baffled me. I could never decipher where the design language came from because it’s a mixture of Victorian and then all of a sudden Formula 1 racing, all mixed into one product.” While digital watches have fallen out of favor in recent years, the PXR-5 distills all the minimalist values of an analogue watch into a less ‘techy’ package. There’s no oversized, plastic components; the stainless steel case has been updated in a selection of finishes including all-black and a particularly attractive silver and navy combo. The belt buckle inspired design uses a rectangular LCD screen to display the time, matched with a series of interchangeable woven nylon straps. As simple as they come, Young’s goal to create something “very minimal and very flexible that serves no other function than its intended purpose”Cristiano Ronaldo d voile une Vapormax UK has been achieved. UNITED ARROWS & SONS has teamed up with fellow Japanese brand READYMADE on a new collection of hats, although they look like an incredibly old collection of hats… The collection is the result of a collaboration with Italian hat maker, Reinhard Plank, in whose factory both designs are handcrafted. Available in both black and beige, each piece is made from a vintage hat that was returned to its original form and then completely reconstructed from scratch, while Mr. Plank cut each brim himself without a pattern, giving each hat an authentically battered look. Limited to 20 pieces, each of which is one-of-a-kind, the UNITED ARROWS & SONS x READYMADE hat collection drops January 22 costing $725 per piece. Viewed by many as one of hip-hop’s most refreshing rappers,Air Nike Air Vapormax UK Vince Staples has proven himself to be every bit as entertaining when he’s not performing as when he is. He’s served up his acerbic and hilarious wit and insight on NBA players’ style, GQ’s “Man of the Year” award, and now, the Olympics. “Fuck these grown ass people trying to ride these horses,” he says, looking at a horse from the equestrian event. “Well this is crazy, this looks like an FKA twigs video,” he says, watching the men’s diving, before comparing ping-pong players to Forrest Gump (“one the greatest Olympian we’ve ever had”) and revealing how and why he isn’t a fan of male gymnastics. The Olympics are more often than not only as fun to watch as the people you’re watching with. We only wish we could invite Vince around. Check out the clip, courtesy of GQ, above. After you’ve finished, watch Vince give his thoughts on the best fashion moments in hip-hop history below. In other music news, Drake brought out Eminem at his Detroit “Summer Sixteen” show.
